Calling Our Shot is ‘Calling Our Shot’. These are our Sports Predictions for 2021. Some will be bold, some will be expected, but we want to get these out there so that we can look back on this article at the end of the year with great gratitude or great sadness. Either way, it’ll be a good memory.
My Sports Predictions include:
- Super Bowl
- NBA Finals
- World Series
- Stanley Cup
- Golf Majors (Masters, PGA Championship, US Open, Open Championship)
Let’s get into my Sports Predictions for 2021.
NFL: Super Bowl LV in Tampa
Matchup: Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Final Score: Chiefs 34 – Packers 31
The Chiefs get it done in one of the highest scoring Super Bowls ever. Rodgers will get the regular season MVP, but Mahomes gets his revenge with the Super Bowl MVP trophy. It will be a good game. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Mecole Hardman will all have touchdowns. Robert Tonyan will have two touchdowns, Davante Adams with another for Green Bay. Chiefs win on a late field goal.
NBA Finals 2021
Matchup: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Final Score: Lakers win in 6 over the Bucks.
The Lakers are too dominant for the Bucks. Giannis makes his first NBA finals but is unable to get the job done against LeBron James and his Lakers. Anthony Davis wins Finals MVP with his defense against Giannis. LeBron gets his 5th ring.
MLB: World Series
Matchup: Yankees vs. Dodgers
Final: Yankees in 7 Games over the Dodgers
The Yankees finally get their first World Series Championship since 2009 and their 28th overall. Gerrit Cole is named World Series MVP with two dominant outings and wins against the Dodgers.
NHL: Stanley Cup
Matchup: Avalanche vs. Lightning
Final Score: Avalanche win the Stanley Cup in Game 7 over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Lightning come up just short of winning back to back Stanley Cups. The Avalanche win their first Stanley Cup since 2000-01. Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avalanche to victory.
PGA: Golf Major Championships
Winner: Dustin Johnson
DJ repeats as Masters Champion. Rare to see it happen but he dominated this course in November and he dominates it once again in April 2021.
Tournament: PGA Championship
Winner: Brooks Koepka
Koepka has been on a cold streak after his insane start to his Major Championship run. He gets back on track in the PGA Championship, a Major he won in 2018 and 2019.
Tournament: US Open
Winner: Xander Schauffele
Schauffele tied for third back in 2019. He has never won a Major Championship but has finished in the top 10 of all 4 (top 3 in 3 of them). He pulls through and gets it done for his first Major Victory.
Tournament: Open Championship
Winner: Jon Rahm
Rahm has been so close in so many Major Championship and he finally gets the job done in the 2021 Open Championship
