JJ Watt: Top 3 Landing Spots after his release from the Texans

JJ Watt’s Top 3 Landing Spots

The Houston Texans have freed JJ Watt and are allowing him to finish his career elsewhere. I believe he has a lot left in the tank and could be the missing defensive piece for a contender. In this article, I will tell you the three best landing spots for JJ Watt to finish his career.

#1: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are an obvious landing spot considering 2 of his other brothers are already on the team. Dream scenario for him getting to play with his family. This move would make sense for the Steelers as well because they could be looking for a replacement for Bud Dupree. The Steelers had a disappointing season end to their season in 2020, but look for them to bounce back bolstering the defense with 2 Watts.

#2: Dallas Cowboys

So-called “America’s team” was putrid on defense last year. If you watched the Cowboys last year, you knew their defensive line play was non-existent. JJ wouldn’t even have to leave Texas for this move. No one is running away with the NFC East anytime soon, so assuming the Cowboys can get a deal with Dak done, they could be poised to make a playoff run in 2021.

#3: Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins have been a name mentioned in play for JJ’s former teammate Deshaun Watson. Could we have a reunion in Miami? I say yes. Similarly to what Brady did with the Buccaneers, Miami could be an attractive landing spot for free agents based on the weather and roster flexibility. When you look at the Dolphin’s defensive front, adding JJ Watt would be a great veteran presence needed for pressuring a QB like Josh Allen who they play twice a year.

All in all, Congrats to JJ Watt as he gets to leave Houston. Many teams will be trying to pick up Watt over the coming weeks and months. Now, the Texans have to take care of their other ‘Face of the Franchise’: Deshaun Watson. It seems like every day the Texans are in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
